Fed Up Group starts, 6 October

The Olympics are finally here after an eternity of preparations. Chris Powell will be examining why people get so excited about sports, and how this can have such significance when there are so many other important and challenging things facing the country and the world. He will also be looking at what makes us happy n the week when the government released the findings of the UK’s first Wellbeing survey.

This week texting overtook talking as the primary way of communication on the phone in the UK. Chris will look at why we seem to prefer texting to talking now and why frequent texters are actually phone averse. He will also wonder about what would make a company like G4S fail to deliver on such a big and important contract, leaving them open to criticism and ridicule.

Mindfulness: Café Psychologique, 24 July 8pm

Mindfulness is being talked about in all sorts of places as being the cure for all sorts of things. This Café gives opportunity to talk about what mindfulness is, where it comes from, what it’s useful for, how you could find out more, and how it could be made part of your life. Dr Kamila Hortynska, clinical psychologist, will introduce the conversation at Café Psychologique on Tuesday 24 July at 8 pm in Seven Arts.
